all other species on earth thrive in the sun ... why is it that humans are singled oout for it to be bad .... ??

  • Resilience1983 says:

It might be... I decided to give it a try, because I was using pure olive oil as a moisturizer after showering and it was working pretty well. But it broke me out. It dried my skin so bad it literally hurt :(
Now I wash my face in the shower with normal shower cream (Dove) and I haven't had a break-out in two weeks :)
But I need an exfoliator and I'm scared to try new things.
PS: Why the heck do I have a thumb-down? Oh well...

It probably broke out because you were washing your face with oil twice a day.

  • kismetprismatism says:

Not severely, but you should aim to get 10 minutes of sun exposure without sunscreen every day. Not too hard, you won't burn or tan, but you will get the vitamin D.

She's so right. Last month I bought this expensive olive oil based soap and used it twice a day as I was told, and I had the worst break-out. Now I wash my face only once a day and my skin looks so much better.

I never get sun. I mean, I'm literally a vampire. So if I don't get vitamin D from the sun everyday is that worsening my skin as well as my body severely?

so i know you said that you use either an exfoliant or a cleanser but never both at the same time..but what if u have make up on? you cant use an exfoliator to remove ur makeup so how would that work?

I've had acne for over 13 years, and I can honestly say that the only product that has truly yielded positive results is Aloe Vera gel. The stuff is just incredible, my skin looks clearer than it has in years. The stuff is very soothing and works as an anti-inflammatory, I wear it pretty much every day. I also exfoliate about 3 times a week as you suggested, this seems to help prevent breakouts due to the removal of dead skin cells. Excess oil seems to be the only remaining problem with me

I can't believe she uses one of those as a moisturiser? Wow. I use it as an EXFOLIATOR. :S

  • quitejaded says:

Wow, no I can't just use water... I don't have acne, but there are a lot of problems that can occur on your skin other than acne.

  • gbinct says:

Can you provide an example of a GENTLE yet effective spot treatment for cystic acne?

  • gbinct says:

What if your skin is extremely dry (I'm male), and prone to acne. Acne fighting agent's are drying. How do you treat, without overdrying?

  • theinsanetrio11 says:

It's actually called BHA, or beta hydroxy acid. Salicylic acid is the most commonly known BHA, but I don't know if there are any other BHA's

    What's VHA?
