I'm not a big time reviewer on Amazon. Reviews come spontaneously to me here, usually based on something I've just seen or read. I will never be one of those people with thousands of reviews to my name. Sure, if I wanted to spend the time to review every book, movie, piece of electronic equipment, music cd I've listened etc. to I could be on here for the next couple of years doing nothing but writing reviews. However since I don't have that kind of time I pretty much only take the time to write about stuff I really love, or really hate. This shampoo falls into the really love bin.
I've suffered from a nasty case of dandruff related to seborrheic dermatitis for the past four years or so. Doctors really don't know what causes seborrheic dandruff and they certainly don't know how to cure it. They have theories for what causes it but that's it. Steroid cremes are great for controlling the symptoms, but over time they are really dangerous to use. So I've been cursed (it seems like a curse) with this awful condition that has led to an infuriating case of scalp itch, and massive dandruff all over my shirts. The dermatitis has spread to my ears and eyebrows too, leading to intense itching and flaking in those areas as well. This sucks!
I have tried every dandruff shampoo on the market and none of them have worked. I discovered Jason Dandruff Relief shampoo about two months ago when I decided to use products that are free of SLS, parabens, cocamide DEA etc. about the same time I discovered this shampoo. Had I not gone on the SLS free kick I never would have discovered this shampoo, and that would have been a loss.
This shampoo is amazing. After one use (yes, that's not a typo) my dandruff problem disappeared. I have used it per the directions (leave in for three minutes and use every other day) and my dandruff has not come back. No more itchy scalp, ears, or eyebrows, and best of all no embarrassing flaking. If this shampoo could cure my dandruff condition, which is probably worse than anyone else I've know, it will cure yours as well. The product says what it does, and does what it says, and that is becoming more rare these days. I appreciate that.
My only warning is the smell, it's pretty rank smelling stuff. It has a strong mediciny smell to it that certainly will not be to most people's liking. Unfortunately the smell does tend to kind of linger on the hair as well. But you know what, I wouldn't care if the shampoo smelled like a fresh pile of dog doo for the kind of relief this shampoo provides me. But I just thought I would throw that out there so you're warned. Don't let it stop you from buying this stuff however, as you'll be missing out on the best dandruff shampoo on the market, bar none!

I bought this originally for my daughter who has really bad flaking on her scalp. It seems to be the only thing that works. I liked that it was full of tea tree oil, neem oil, and without sudsing agents, which just dry you out anyway. It wasn't at all harsh like the other chemical filled commercial products. Yes, it does smell funky, but she's not scratching at her head all day.
Recently though, we had a breakout of ringworm. Of course, once again, products marketed toward our problem failed to work. I read that sulphur helps dry it out and kill ringworm as it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. So does tea tree oil and neem oil. I decided to give it a go on myself.
Not only did it get rid of my ringworm its clearing up my body acne!! I've been plagued with acne on my chest, arms and back since I was a teen. Nothing worked. This not only helps combat the problem, the combo of oils helps moisturize which is important to acne treatment. I don't need a seperate lotion.
Over time, the sulphur smell doesn't linger as much on the skin. The smell is strong when combating the problem. If less problem is present, then less smell. We've noticed this with my daughters head. If her scalp outbreak was bad, the smell was stronger.
I highly reccomend this product.

I've been using Head and Shoulders for years and it has kept my dandruff well managed and my hair in great shape, but I love Jason's products and use them all over the place - bath gels, hand gels, baby creams/toothpaste/wash, etc. So I gave this a shot a few months ago as well, hoping to replace another P & G product with a cruelty free one.
But after two tries, I refuse to use it again. The smell is pretty bad, but that's not my worry - my problem is what it does to my hair. After using this product, the hair feels very strange, almost sticky or something (as if you just put your hair through a chemical treatment, like heavy bleaching). And if you don't douse it with major amounts of conditioner after the treatment (which exacerbates my dandruff so I normally don't use conditioner at all), your hair will feel like crap even when you dry it out. And it will be hard to brush out. Now if you're a guy with short hair, you may not notice or be affected. But if you have even shoulder length hair or longer, you're going to hate the way it leaves your hair.
So, sadly, though the product seems to work OK for managing dandruff, what it does to hair is not pleasant. I'll wait to see if they come up with something better in the future and keep searching for a functional, cruelty-free alternative elsewhere.

I think I actually have scalp psorisis, so before this, I tried everything. The only product that seemed to work was Head and Shoulders "intense." But, since using Jason, my dandruff hasn't returned, my hair doesn't feel like straw, and my hair color doesn't fade away as quickly at all.
The only bad side is that it stinks, but who cares, once you dry it or use a scented conditioner, it tends to cover up the mediciny smell.

This is a great shampoo, right after I use it all my flakes are gone. The next day, however, they are back again. It doesn't really bother me, because I wash my hair every night, and I use the shampoo every night as well. I would reccommend this to people who want a quick, temporary solution to their dandruff problems.
